(With extra pictures) De Haas Maassluis has delivered a new firefighting vessel to the "Veiligheidsregio Zuid-Holland Zuid" to be stationed in Dordrecht. Read all about it in SWZ Maritime's February issue.

The new firefighting vessel, named Zuid-Holland Zuid, had to be smaller and lighter as well as have a higher capacity, be faster, and sustainable when it came to emissions, noise and energy efficiency. The article depicts how these demands were met with a lot of contributions from local maritime suppliers and highlights the vessels innovative features, such as its specially designed fender by Fender Innovations.

Below you will find a photo album with a lot of extra pictures of the Zuid-Holland Zuid, both exterior and interior, and pictures taken at the christening ceremony. Please click the pop-out link (the little squares at the right) to view them in their proper dimensions.

In addition, the February issue features articles on:

  • the student sailing contest at Marin;
  • ships' officers views on seamanship;
  • places of refuge for accident stricken ships;
  • sail-assisted propulsion;
  • LNG for short sea vessels; and
  • Conoship's mini New Year's symposium.

The regular sections are News, "Maritieme markt", "Maand maritiem", From the media, Mars, Book reviews and news and events from the KNVTS and Netherlands Maritime Technology.
