(With downloadable list and photo album) Building large cruise ships is still a largely European affair, although the Chinese have fixed their gaze on it too.

The European cruise ship building yards are: Fincantieri CNI at Marghera, Monfalcone, Sestri Ponente and Ancona, Meyer Werft at Papenburg am Ems and Turku, STX France at St. Nazaire and newcomer MV Werften (acquired by the Genting Group Hong Kong in March 2016) at Wismar, Warnemünde and Stralsund.

Soon, China's largest ship building conglomerate China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) will, however, be added to this list due to its joint venture with Fincatieri. Together, the companies will build cruise ships for the Asian market in China.
