Wärtsilä to Produce Scrubbers in China

The technology group Wärtsilä plans to start manufacturing exhaust gas cleaning systems in China. The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect with Chinese company COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry.

The companies strive to create a "one-stop-shopping" service for exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCSs) aimed at both newbuild and retrofit scrubber projects. The cooperation fits in with COSCO's plans to expand its manufacturing portfolio of marine equipment.
