Jan De Nul Group has signed a contract with Vattenfall Vindkraft Kriegers Flak P/S for the transport and installation of 72 8.4 megawatt Siemens wind turbine generators. The generators will be placed at the Kriegers Flak Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) in Denmark.

Installation works will start in the first quarter of 2021 and will take four months.

Philippe Hutse, Offshore Director at Jan De Nul Group, said he was ‘proud to have been awarded an offshore wind turbine generator installation project of this magnitude.’ For some time, the company has been investing in equipment for offshore installation capable of installing large wind farms at sea, a move that now ‘bears fruit’, according to Hutse.

The Kriegers Flak Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) is located in the Baltic Sea in water depths varying between fifteen and thirty metres, at fifteen kilometres from shore. In 2017-18, Jan De Nul Group already built, towed and installed two large gravity based foundations for the offshore high voltage stations of the Kriegers Flak OWF.
