The narrow and fuel-efficient hull of motor yacht Project Phi has been rolled out of the construction hall for its scheduled turning. The fast displacement, sub-500GT motoryacht of over 55 metres long is being built at Royal Huisman’s shipyard in Vollenhove, the Netherlands.

Four cranes performed the hull turning placing Phi upright, after which it was rolled back inside to proceed with construction and outfitting.

Phi’s exterior design comes from the drawing board of Cor D. Rover, its interior design was created by Lawson Robb and the naval architecture by Van Oossanen Naval Architects. Relating to ”sectio divina” or the Golden Ratio, Phi is the formula that governs the continuation of dimensions and shapes in natural proportions throughout the design. Utilising the especially developed Fast Displacement XL hull form from Van Oossanen, allows this yacht to be over 55 metres long while remaining under the 500 GT mark.

Phi is scheduled for delivery in 2021 and once launched will be supported by a matching 36-metre shadow vessel (also designed by Cor D. Rover and Van Oossanen Naval Architects and currently under construction in Asia).
