The Fincantieri Shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, officially handed over the Sky Princess to Princess Cruises on 15 October, which left for its first cruise five days later. The first purpose-built Princess MedallionClass ship (capacity 3660 guests) is the cruise company’s eighteenth ship. 

The inaugural journey of the Sky Princess is a seven-day Mediterranean and Adriatic Sea cruise. After a short sailing season on the Mediterranean Sea, the Sky Princess will set sail for the Caribbean. The ship will return to Europe next year with cruises from Copenhagen to the Baltic States and Russia.

Although its has several sister ships (the Royal Princess, Regal Princess and Majestic Princess) it is the first purpose-built Princess MedallionClass ship, which include a number of novelties particularly in the area of entertainment. These include “Sky Suites” with panoramic views, a live music jazz lounge and an escape room. These innovations will also be applied at the Enchanted Princess, which will be launched in June 2020.

The Princess Cruises fleet will be further expanded with three additional ships in 2021, 2023 and 2025.
