So far, 45 superyacht companies have joined trade association Netherlands Maritime Technology’s (NMT’s) newly formed Holland Superyacht Platform. At the end of September, the trade association managed to separate the companies from Hiswa’s Holland Yachting Group.

NMT will be developing a programme for the global branding and export promotion of the Dutch superyacht industry for these member companies based on their requirements. The official name of the fledgling platform and the programme for 2020 will be presented during the inaugural meeting at the Maritime Museum in Rotterdam on 16 January 2020.

Analysing Market Needs

The initiative by NMT was very well-received by the sector. Since 1 October, maritime companies have had the opportunity to register for a free introductory membership that runs until 31 January 2020. Among the 45 members who have joined to date, are many leading Dutch yachtbuilders and suppliers. NMT will have detailed meetings with all companies to comprehensively analyse their needs.

‘Member input has always been leading in all our activities,’ says Roel de Graaf, Managing Director of NMT. ‘It is especially important to understand participant needs with a new initiative like this.’

At the request of the members, the Monaco Yacht Show, the Metstrade Show and a press tour for the international trade media will be included in the 2020 programme. Member companies have until the end of January to decide whether they wish to convert their membership into a definitive membership.
