Alumax Boats in Meppel, the Netherlands, has won its largest contract ever. Over the next 1.5 years, it will build seven aluminium water taxis for Watertaxi Rotterdam. The new water taxis will be fully electrically powered.

Four of the zero-emission boats will have a capacity of forty passengers and two boats are suitable for twelve persons and their bikes. Alumax has already built eight twelve-person water taxis for the Rotterdam transport company since 2012.

From 1 January 2022, the new fleet will take over the existing Waterbus lines 18 and 19 and the Pont op Zuid. Watertaxi Rotterdam has been awarded this contract by the Municipality of Rotterdam, Metropolitan Region Rotterdam The Hague and the Port of Rotterdam Authority.
