Titan LNG has performed ship-to-ship bunkering of DEME’s new giant cutter suction dredger (CSD) Spartacus. This was not only the first ever LNG bunkering of a CSD in DEME’s fleet, but also the first time in the world.
With its dual fuel engines and installed capacity of 44,180 kW, Spartacus will be the world’s most powerful self-proppelled CSD as well as the first CSD powered by LNG. It can cut harder soils at speeds that have not been possible before and dredge in waters up to 45 metres. The ship was built by Royal IHC.
