GE’s Haliade-X turbine has just set a new record: the prototype in Rotterdam produced 312 MWh in a single 24-hour period. With this, it breaks the previous record of 288 MWh in a single day.

GE Renewable Energy will start series production of the turbines in the second half of next year. The prototype was installed in the port of Rotterdam in the summer of 2019 and at the end of last year it produced power for the first time. At that time, it still had a production capacity of 12 MW, which has now been upgraded to 13 MW. According to the company, 1 spin of a Haliade-X 13 MW could power a household for more than 2 days.

From 2023 onwards, 190 of these wind turbines will be installed on the British Doggersbank wind farm. The turbine has also been sold to the American Ocean Wind project.
