DEME Offshore’s Sea Challenger and crew have completed the installation of 174 SWT-7.0-megawatt turbines at offshore wind park Hornsea One. Once inaugurated in 2020, it will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm.

Hornsea One offshore wind farm is located 120 kilometres off the Yorkshire coast and when fully commissioned it will power well over one million homes with renewable energy. It is also the world’s first offshore wind farm to be able to generate over one gigawatt of electricity.

DEME started installing the turbines in February 2019 and installed the last turbine on 3 October. Now that the final turbine has been installed, the project will first undergo a period of commissioning up to its inauguration in 2020.
