Princess Cruises newest ship will be called the Discovery Princess. The sister ship of the Royal Princess, Regal Princess, Majestic Princess, Sky Princess and Enchanted Princess (launch June 2020) will come into service at the end of 2021.

The 143,700-ton Discovery Princess with a capacity for 3660 guests will be built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. The ship has a length of 330 metres and a beam of 38 metres. It will be the third purpose-built “Medallion Class” ship to be added to the fleet.

LNG-powered Cruise Ships on the Way

Following the launch of the Discovery Princess, the Princess Cruises fleet will be further expanded with two new LNG-powered (liquefied natural gas) cruise ships that will be delivered by Fincantieri at the end of 2023 and spring 2025. These 175,000-ton cruise ships will be the largest ships built so far in Italy. This brings the total of the line to five new ships in six years’ time.

First Cruises of the Discovery Princess

The Discovery Princess’ inaugural voyage is scheduled for 3 November 2021 with a seven-day cruise on the Mediterranean and Aegean from Rome to Athens. After a short season in the Mediterranean, the Discovery Princess sets sail for Fort Lauderdale for a series of cruises to the Caribbean. This will be followed by several trips around South America from Buenos Aires, Santiago and Fort Lauderdale.
