The number of people on board cruise ship Diamond Princess that has been infected by the coronavirus has risen to 218. The ship is currently quarantined near Japan.

Some older passengers affected by the coronavirus, will soon be able to leave the ship and be accommodated in special shelter. This has been communicated by the Japanese authorities.

The ship is off the Japanese coast near the city of Yokohama. It has 3700 people on board, including five Dutch passengers. The Japanese authorities quarantined the ship at the beginning of this month after the coronavirus was detected in a passenger. Since then, thousands of people have been trapped in their cabins.
