BigLift ships three reactors from Port of Venice to Thailand
Three mega reactors manufactured by Porto Marghera based ATB Group have left the Port of Venice for Thailand on board BigLift’s heavy load carrier Happy Star. The reactors’ diameters range from 5.4 to 5.7 meters, weigh between 880 to 1700 tonnes and are between 37 and 52 meters long.
The shipping marked a new record for the Venetian Port, after the reactors for Dangote (Nigeria) shipped in summer 2018. This port is said to be one of the most important European ports in project cargo handling. Boarding operations were carried out by the Multi Service terminal.
ATB was chosen by the Samsung, Petrofac and Saipem consortium to supply equipment to Thailand’s leading energy company. ATB will supply three pieces of equipment in all-stage reactors made of vanadium-modified CrMo steel.
‘Once again it is the people who have made the difference: a cohesive and tight team and a supply chain that has worked perfectly,’ says Luigi Redaelli, Managing Director of ATB Group’s Heavy Equipment division. This goal is even more significant when contextualized in a difficult period for the industry in Northern Italy. ‘As a company we moved immediately to make employees and collaborators safe and protect their health. Despite the concerns of recent months, the will to do and do well prevailed among our people, to give value to our customer,’ adds Redaelli.
